Kanika Kalra is a doctor by profession and an artist by a calling that took 25 years in medicine to fully answer. From Himachal Pradesh, Kanika spent decades at the forefront of healthcare before one meditative moment changed the direction of her creative life: she found herself craving to hold a painting brush in her hands. From that moment on, there was no looking back. She launched her art business, Matte & Glaze, and poured into it the same precision and care she had given to her patients. Her acrylic paintings on canvas revolve around themes of self-reflection and tranquility — each piece an invitation for the viewer to pause, to embark on their own journey of self-discovery. She uses the full range of colour and composition to create works that don’t just brighten a room but carry a fragment of serenity into it.

AT THE BHAVKALA COLLECTIVE
Kanika’s message at the Bhavkala Collective is both artistic and deeply human: that the therapeutic power of art can bring harmony and balance into our lives.
She encourages everyone who encounters her work to take a piece home — not just as decoration, but as a practice of mindfulness. Her paintings are small sanctuaries.
