Her artworks AASTHA and Naari Aur Nandi: The Reins of Grace are presented as part of Matter Meets Meaning – Bhavkala Collective 2.0 at the Knowledge Center, Gurugram.
Created using acrylics on 600 GSM Arches paper, AASTHA measures 30 × 40 inches. The work explores faith through visual elements associated with bells, rhythm, prayer, and quiet devotion.
Rather than presenting faith only as a formal or ceremonial idea, the artwork creates space for reflection on the personal experience of belief and devotion. Its title, AASTHA, meaning faith, provides an entry point into this contemplative visual experience.
Measuring 36 × 48 inches and created in acrylics on canvas, Naari Aur Nandi: The Reins of Grace explores ideas of feminine strength, grace, sovereignty, and self-direction.
The artwork was inspired by a chance encounter with a richly adorned Kole Basava in Mysore. Through the relationship between the woman and the decorated Nandi, Preeti Joshi presents a visual narrative around agency and the strength of feminine presence.
Together, these works demonstrate two different but connected dimensions of Preeti Joshi’s artistic expression: the introspective world of faith and devotion, and the powerful ideas of grace, identity, and feminine agency.
Presented at Matter Meets Meaning – Bhavkala Collective 2.0, her artworks contribute to an exhibition that brings together diverse artistic perspectives and encourages viewers to consider how art can transform personal experiences, cultural references, and stories into meaningful visual expressions.
