Nikita Sharma began simply: drawing cartoons that made her friends laugh. That connection — the moment her art sparked joy in someone else — lit a fire that has never gone out. Over time, she pushed herself past cartoons, past portraiture, past the familiar confines of realism to something more searching: the human form, and specifically the female body, as a space of inquiry.

What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be a woman? Nikita’s canvases live inside those questions. She describes herself as a storyteller, a bridge builder, and a constant explorer on a journey of artistic and personal discovery. Her greater vision is to build community—she imagines a gathering of women artists, each adding their unique strokes to a shared masterpiece, a single powerful image that speaks for all of them.

AT THE BHAVKALA COLLECTIVE

At the Bhavkala Collective, Nikita’s work is both intimate and expansive. Her portraits of the female form are not just representations; they are investigations.

Nikita happened to co-found her own community, Kaladhara, after The Bhavkala Collective Exhibition with one of the participating artists, Kirti Aggarwal. and also happened to meet her now-husband at the event for the first time.

Through our intentful efforts at Bhavkala, we our the happiest to change artists’ lives through collaboratoin and expansion.
