Young Artist at Bhavkala – Nirja Arora

Instagram: @nirjaarorapoetry

Nirja Arora was barely sixteen years old, and yet her work carries the quiet authority of someone who has lived through much more. Her childhood was defined by constant movement—her father is an army officer, which meant a new posting, a new city, and a new beginning every few years.

What that life of flux instilled in her was a deep appreciation for impermanence and a fierce attachment to what endures. Art, for Nirja, is the one unyielding anchor, a sanctuary where she can transform the impermanent into something personal and lasting. She is, in spirit, a seasoned storyteller: she uses art not merely to depict the world but to make viewers feel its complexities, its fleeting beauty, and that most enduring of human desires, the longing for a place to call home.

AT THE BHAVKALA COLLECTIVE

Nirja’s presence at the Bhavkala Collective is one of its most quietly powerful moments. She wants her viewers to grapple with the imagery — to let the embers of her creation ignite their own thoughts and memories.

At sixteen, she already understands that the best art does not answer questions; it opens them. Her work is a reminder that age is no measure of depth.
