Moonmoon Bhagchandka was born in 1984 in Jammu and has long been rooted in the life and rhythms of New Delhi. Her formal education — an English Honours degree from Delhi University, followed by a Diploma in Applied Arts (Fashion Designing) from JD Institute of Fashion Technology, gave her an eye for aesthetics and form. But her journey into painting itself began with a serendipitous encounter: an online video of a captivating artwork she stumbled upon, driven by an unyielding desire to possess it, found her unknowingly charting a course toward creation rather than acquisition. With her husband’s steadfast encouragement, Moonmoon threw herself into painting — and has never looked back. She is a self-taught artist who has grown into her craft with the same hunger that first made her pause in front of that screen.

Her previous work has delved into Kashmiri life through introspective dreams and metaphors, and her artworks at the Collective offer a preview of a deeply felt artistic vision about identity, place, and longing.
